After sin, conscience should inspire a hearty repentance and distrust of self, but never discouragement and loss of confidence in God. Such a conscience is a source of peace and happiness, it is wise beyond all the wisdom of this world, its testimony is more glorious than all the eulogies of men. Try to cultivate it.
