1. Sin is a most important object of consideration, as being the supreme evil, and as having so terrible an influence in this world and in the eternity that follows.
2. We are in the midst of it, overwhelmed by it, and, like men lost in a dense forest, we cannot perceive its magnitude or its bearings.
3. You should be able to say of sin in general; "I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me" (Ps. 1. 5). You must gain this knowledge not from earthly wisdom or current opinions, nor from degrading experience, but from revelation and faith. Ask God to give you a knowledge of good and evil such as will aid you to understand the deep mysteries of His nature and His Providence.
